Venture out to Isabela Island and the uninhabited islets of Las Tintoreras on this exciting full-day journey. Throughout the day, come face to face with the incredible biodiversity of the Galapagos Islands as you observe different types of birds, reptiles, sea animals, and plants.
Transfer from your hotel to the pier at Puerto Ayora and embark on a cruise out to Isabela, the largest island in the Galapagos archipelago. Your first stop is at Los Humedales, a large stretch of wetlands populated by 4 kinds of mangroves. As you journey through the area, your guide points out the myriad bird species, including flamingos, curlews, and stilts, that make the mangroves home. Next, visit a local breeding center and encounter the giant tortoises the Galapagos are famous for.
Take a break for lunch aboard your boat, and then journey off the southern coast of Isabela to Las Tintoreras, a chain of uninhabited islets. The bay is abundant with native sea life, and, as you make your way through the area, you can spot sea lions, turtles, and marine iguanas basking on the shores. In the water, keep an eye out for stingrays, and catch sight of schools of nurse sharks in crystal-clear pools. Your day comes to a close as you leave Las Tintoreras behind and return to the dock of Santa Cruz.
